U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who represents Pennsylvania’s 12th district in Congress, used her social media platform this week to criticize the influence of billionaires and corporations on American democracy and to promote grassroots activism.
On August 27, 2025, Lee posted: “Donald Trump and his admin are carrying out an all-out assault on working people and trying to pit us against each other so we blame everyone but the billionaires. We will not let them take our power away.”
Later that same day, she continued her critique of corporate influence in politics, writing: “Billionaires and corporations are buying our elections to drown out our voices, but we won’t let them. Tune in to our Many Over the Money roundtable with @FSFP TONIGHT at 6:30pm to discuss the fight to get money out of politics and restore our democracy “ This post referenced a virtual event aimed at discussing campaign finance reform.
On August 28, 2025, Lee followed up with another message: “We are in a failing democracy. For years, billionaires and corporations have been allowed to buy our elections and control our government at the expense of the working class. But we’re fighting back. Thank you to the hundreds who attended our Many over the Money roundtable with https://t.co/mFiHJy1NNq”
