U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who represents Pennsylvania’s 12th district, used her social media platform to comment on recent political developments, labor issues, and infrastructure challenges in her region.
On August 12, 2025, Lee posted criticism of former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding federal funding for Washington D.C. and public safety nationwide. She wrote, “Another baseless and dangerous power grab from Trump the authoritarian.
If Trump truly cared about DC’s prosperity and safety, he wouldn’t have slashed $1B from its budget or cut back on public safety funding across the country.”
The following day, August 13, Lee addressed labor concerns and campaign finance issues after speaking at a union convention. In her post she stated, “Trump is no friend to labor, and with corporate money flooding our political system to drown out our voices, we have to fight back.
It was an honor to address @CWAUnion’s 80th National Convention. The real power will always belong with the people.

Later that day, Lee commented on recent extreme weather events in Pittsburgh and called for increased federal support for climate resilience. She wrote, “The April storms that hit Pittsburgh left many without power, exposing gaps in our storm infrastructure.
Proud to join the Extreme Weather Emergency Tour today. We need federal investments to combat the climate crisis driving extreme weather.
When disaster hits, it’s our people”.
Summer Lee has represented Pennsylvania’s 12th congressional district since 2023 after succeeding Mike Doyle. She previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale, Lee holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University (BA) and Howard University (JD).
