U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who serves Pennsylvania’s 12th district, addressed several national and local issues in a series of posts on her social media account on August 20 and 21, 2025.
On August 20, Lee commented on proposed changes to Texas electoral maps, stating: “Republicans in Texas are pushing a new Trump-approved electoral map. This is yet another attack on Black and brown communities designed to silence the voices of the people. I stand with folks like Rep. @NicoleCollier95 who are fighting this fascist takeover.”
Later that day, she posted about disaster response resources for her home region: “Extreme weather and the devastation that follows is not a red state or a blue state issue. We’re going to continue to stand up for our communities, especially here in Western PA, to make sure we have the resources we need to prevent and respond to disasters.”
On August 21, Lee criticized former President Donald Trump and his Department of Justice regarding the handling of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein: “Donald Trump and his DOJ are slow walking the release of the Epstein files. Not only are they hiding the truth, they’re forcing Epstein’s victims to relive their trauma every single day. The victims and the American people deserve better.”
Summer Lee has served in Congress since replacing Mike Doyle in 2023 after previously serving in Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives from 2019 through 2022. She was born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently resides in Swissvale. Lee holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University (BA) and Howard University (JD).
