U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who serves Pennsylvania’s 12th district, posted a series of tweets on January 7, 2026, addressing issues related to immigration policy, law enforcement actions by ICE, and housing affordability.
In her first tweet at 18:20 UTC, Lee criticized Republican lawmakers’ focus on immigrants and marginalized groups: “We could be using our time to truly address waste, fraud, and abuse that strips resources from working people. Instead, Republicans are yet again using immigrants and marginalized people as scapegoats. It’s shameful.”
Later that evening at 20:34 UTC, she commented on recent actions by the Trump administration and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE): “The Trump administration is inflaming rhetoric about a community and commissioning the endangerment of its citizens—and now ICE just killed a woman. They are increasingly out of control. Call this what it is: a police state. It’s past time to abolish ICE once and for all.”
At 23:39 UTC the same day, Lee referenced legislative efforts targeting corporate ownership in local housing markets alongside Rep. Emilia Sykes: “.@RepEmiliaSykes and I already have a bill that does exactly this, cracking down on corporate investors buying local homes and driving up housing prices. Thanks for your support, Mr. President. Check out our HOMES Act here https://t.co/XygR5foQvb https://t.co/9BFxt6Kg7F”
Summer Lee has represented Pennsylvania’s 12th District in Congress since replacing Mike Doyle in 2023; prior to her current role she served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale, Lee holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University (BA) and Howard University (JD).
