U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who serves Pennsylvania’s 12th district, addressed issues of housing instability and healthcare policy in a series of tweets posted on July 30 and July 31, 2025.
On July 30, Lee highlighted the challenges faced by students experiencing homelessness, stating, “We can’t expect students to succeed in school when they don’t even know where they’ll sleep at night. @homelessfund412 is doing the life-saving work to support our students facing housing instability. Grateful to stand with them and speak to the urgency of action.”
Later that day, she commented on the anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, writing, “Medicare and Medicaid turn 60 today—but instead of celebrating, we’re out here fighting to keep them alive. Trump and Republicans passed brutal healthcare cuts, even after experts warned it could mean thousands of preventable deaths every year. We can’t let it slide.”
On July 31, Lee advocated for legal representation for those facing eviction: “No one should lose their home simply because they can’t afford a lawyer. The Eviction Right to Counsel Act is about supporting working people and ensuring they have a fighting chance—and that starts with legal representation. I am proud to partner with @SenBooker and”
Summer Lee has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Mike Doyle as representative for Pennsylvania’s 12th district. She previously held office in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 through 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale, Lee holds a BA from Pennsylvania State University (2009) and a JD from Howard University (2015).
