U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who serves Pennsylvania’s 12th district, announced a series of actions related to the release of files connected to Jeffrey Epstein in a sequence of posts on July 23 and 24, 2025.
On July 23, Lee stated, “I just offered a motion to subpoena the Epstein files. If Republicans really want to find ways to protect children from being trafficked, let’s get to it.”
Later that day, she reported progress on her initiative: “The House subcommittee just PASSED my motion to subpoena the Epstein files. The DOJ must now release them to the Oversight Committee. The American people deserve transparency and accountability, and his victims deserve justice. The wealthy and powerful are not above the law.”
In a subsequent post early on July 24, Lee added, “Republicans tried to sneak their way out of DC to avoid voting to release the Epstein files. We forced—and passed—the vote anyway. The people are tired of watching the powerful be protected.”
Summer Lee has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Mike Doyle as representative for Pennsylvania’s 12th district. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 through 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale, Lee holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University (BA) and Howard University (JD).
