Summer Lee, a U.S. Congress member representing Pennsylvania’s 12th district since 2023, has recently expressed her concerns and opinions on various pressing issues through social media. Her recent posts address topics ranging from natural disasters to political developments and societal issues.
On July 7, 2025, Summer Lee conveyed her thoughts regarding the severe floods affecting Texas. In her message, she expressed solidarity with those affected by the disaster: “Thinking of all the children, families, and first responders impacted by the devastating floods in Texas. My heart is with everyone grieving and with those still searching for loved ones. My team and I are here for #PA12 families who need support.”
Two days later, on July 9, 2025, Lee reacted to a Supreme Court decision concerning employment in federal positions under former President Donald Trump’s administration. She criticized the ruling that could potentially lead to mass dismissals of federal workers: “The Supreme Court just opened the door for Trump to continue firing federal workers. Thousands could lose their jobs – environmental researchers, food inspectors, public health staff. I’ll keep fighting so this regime doesn’t turn our government into a tool for authoritarian.”
Later that same day, Lee addressed an incident involving derogatory remarks made by a public figure against Black women and Muslims in Congress. She called out such behavior as unacceptable: “This man is an open bigot talking about who is a shame to Congress. No spoiler here — it’s you. Hating Black women and Muslims may be cool in Republican circles, but any decent American should call out this vile behavior and demand better for our country.”
Summer Lee was born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently resides in Swissvale. She holds a BA from Pennsylvania State University and earned her JD from Howard University in 2015.
