Rep. Summer Lee, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 12th district since 2023, has recently shared her thoughts on various issues through social media posts. Lee succeeded Mike Doyle and previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022.
On June 14, Rep. Summer Lee expressed her concern over recent violent events involving political figures. She described the “politically motivated assassination of Rep. Melissa Hortman and attack on Sen. John Hoffman” as “unconscionable.” Emphasizing that “public service should never be a death threat,” she conveyed her prayers for their families and called for a swift investigation into the incidents (source).
The following day, June 15, Lee extended warm wishes on Father’s Day to fathers and father-figures who are present with love and care. She emphasized honoring them while advocating for a world where every family can thrive (source).
On June 16, Rep. Lee highlighted the importance of the Community Development Block Grant program by stating that without it, essential infrastructure such as repaved streets and accessible ramps would not exist. She criticized former President Trump’s budget proposal, suggesting it would harm small towns like Dravosburg. Lee affirmed her commitment to fighting for local community funding (source).
Born in Pittsburgh in 1987, Summer Lee is currently residing in Swissvale at age 35. She holds a BA from Pennsylvania State University (2009) and a JD from Howard University (2015).
