U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who serves Pennsylvania’s 12th district, addressed issues ranging from immigration policy to community resources in a series of posts on her official Twitter account.
On February 18, 2026, Lee commented on the origins and impact of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating, “ICE is the inevitable result of centuries of state-sanctioned violence against marginalized communities. We have to understand why this is happening and how we can keep each other safe. Grateful to @1hood for convening our community to discuss how history got us to this point”.
The following day, she criticized former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies for their effect on American families, writing on February 19, 2026: “Trump’s cruel immigration policies are shrinking the childcare workforce & driving up costs for American families. I joined my colleagues in calling out the ways in which the admin is targeting caregivers & pushing childcare further out of reach”.
Later that same day, Lee highlighted local support services after visiting a Pittsburgh-area YMCA facility: “The Allegheny YMCA is a vital resource for our Northside community, offering programming and support for seniors, children and families. It was wonderful to tour the upgraded facility to see how the YMCA is meeting our community’s needs and becoming safer and more accessible”.
Summer Lee has represented Pennsylvania’s 12th district in Congress since 2023 after previously serving in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale, Lee holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University (BA) and Howard University (JD).
