U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who serves Pennsylvania’s 12th district, addressed issues ranging from public health and education to community safety and the arts in a series of recent posts on her official social media account.

On March 12, Lee highlighted efforts to improve nutrition and health education for children, stating, “Everyone should have access to quality food and education on how to live healthy lives. I met with @AdagioHealth and the @AlleghenyIU in a Pre-K classroom in McKeesport to learn about their SNAP-Education program and see firsthand how it’s supporting our neighbors.”

The following day, Lee responded to an incident at a local place of worship: “The antisemitic attack on Temple Israel yesterday is horrifying. No one should face violence at their place of worship or anywhere else. It’s shameful politicians will use attacks like this to justify hatred against any other group. The answer to hate is solidarity, not more” (March 13).

Later that same day, she recognized the role of music in uniting communities during challenging times: “The @pghsymphony is a beautiful local example of how music brings us together and offers us joy and community in difficult times like these. I was glad to have the opportunity to meet with musicians and staff to congratulate them on their grant award from the National Endowment” (March 13).

Summer Lee has served as U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 12th District since 2023 after previously serving in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 through 2022. She succeeded Mike Doyle in Congress and resides in Swissvale, having been born in Pittsburgh in 1987. Lee holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University (BA) and Howard University (JD).
