U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who serves Pennsylvania’s 12th district in Congress, has recently used her social media platform to highlight a range of issues, including childcare affordability, artificial intelligence (AI) bias, and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
On January 17, 2026, Lee addressed concerns about the state of childcare in Pennsylvania by posting: “We have a childcare crisis in this country. In my home state of Pennsylvania, the system is so broken that childcare workers would have to spend nearly half their annual salary to get care for their own kids. If Republicans were serious about affordability, they should https://t.co/SmdshrSAa9”
The following day, on January 19, 2026, she discussed challenges related to AI and societal bias: “AI is trained by humans, so it picks up the biases and inequities entrenched in our society. It’s not enough to just test for and address it, we have to be proactive in rooting it out. My bills with @SenMarkey and @RepYvetteClarke are a great place to start. https://t.co/t2hSBQulc2”
Later on January 19, Lee reflected on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s warnings regarding racism and economic exploitation: “Dr. King warned us that racism, economic exploitation, and militarism were the three evils of society. He wasn’t about sanitized action to make people comfortable; he was dedicated to ending inequity, redistributing wealth, and dismantling systems of oppression. It was a joy to https://t.co/nMajcNoGhx”
Lee began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing Mike Doyle as representative for Pennsylvania’s 12th district (https://www.house.gov/representatives). She previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 until her election to Congress in late 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale at age 35, Lee holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University (BA) and Howard University (JD).
