Tristan Jarry has returned to the Pittsburgh Penguins after being called up from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. This move follows rookie Joel Blomqvist's reassignment after a loss to Toronto. Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan explained that this decision was made for Blomqvist’s growth and development.

Jarry, who signed a five-year contract extension in 2023, expressed his commitment to staying with the team. "I want to be here. This is where I signed, and this is where I intend to be," he said. Reflecting on his journey through the minors, Jarry added, "It’s something where I had a little bump in the road, and going down to Wilkes, I think will help my game."

After a challenging start to the season, Jarry initially went to WBS for conditioning in November. Penguins President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas emphasized giving Jarry "some good runway" in Pittsburgh. However, inconsistency led him back to WBS in January without a set timeline.

Jarry played 12 games there with a 6-5-1 record before his return call-up. He acknowledged his earlier performance issues: “Obviously, it's not something that you want to happen...I wasn't playing well enough for this team." He used his time at WBS as an opportunity for improvement.

Meanwhile, new acquisitions Luke Schenn and Tommy Novak were absent from practice ahead of Friday's trade deadline. Coach Sullivan praised Schenn's character and experience: “We think he's a guy that's going to bring a certain dimension to our blue line.” On Novak, Sullivan noted excitement about integrating him into the team: “He's had a couple of pretty good years in Nashville.”
