The National Football League (NFL) has announced its first regular season game in Dublin, Ireland, set for 2025. The Pittsburgh Steelers will be the designated team for this historic event. The game will take place at Croke Park, the largest sporting arena in Ireland and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), in collaboration with the Government of Ireland and Dublin City Council.

Art Rooney II, President of the Steelers, expressed excitement about the opportunity to play in Ireland. "We are very excited to be the designated team in the first regular season game to be played in Ireland this upcoming season," he said. He noted that playing in Ireland is special due to his family's history there and because of a growing fan base.

Peter O'Reilly, Executive Vice President International at the NFL, highlighted the significance of bringing an NFL game to Ireland. "We are delighted to officially bring a regular season NFL game to Ireland as part of our 2025 International Games slate," he stated. He emphasized both organizations' deep roots and history in Ireland.

Patrick O'Donovan TD, Minister for Arts, Media, Communications, Culture and Sport in Ireland, commented on hosting such an event: "This is a major vote of confidence in Ireland's ability to host world-class events." He added that it would benefit Irish tourism and strengthen ties between Ireland and the United States.

Croke Park has previously hosted significant events like All-Ireland Finals for Gaelic football and hurling as well as concerts by global music icons such as U2 and Taylor Swift. GAA President Jarlath Burns expressed enthusiasm about welcoming the NFL: "This event will not only highlight our stadium's world-class facilities but also reinforce connections shared between our communities."

Details about opponents or kickoff times will be revealed when the 2025 schedule is announced this spring. Additionally, Aer Lingus will partner with the Steelers over four years as An Official Airline of Pittsburgh Steelers among other roles related to Steelers' presence in Ireland.
