The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) has announced the election of Dr. Mark A. Rubino as chair-elect of its Board of Directors. Dr. Rubino, who serves as President of AHN Forbes and Allegheny Valley Hospitals, will hold the position for the 2025/2026 term before transitioning to board chair for the 2027/2028 term.

HAP's board comprises 28 healthcare leaders from across Pennsylvania, responsible for setting strategic directions, fostering a strong hospital community, and advocating for high-quality care access. Representing 235 member hospitals statewide, HAP works on behalf of these institutions and their communities with state and federal lawmakers.

Dr. Rubino expressed his commitment to addressing challenges faced by Pennsylvania's hospitals: “I am honored to be elected chair-elect of the HAP Board of Directors,” he said. “Pennsylvania’s hospitals and health systems face significant challenges and opportunities, and I look forward to working collaboratively with my fellow board members and the HAP team to address these head-on and ensure the continued delivery of high-quality care to all Pennsylvanians.”

Dr. Rubino has been President of Allegheny Valley Hospital since 2023 and Forbes Hospital since 2016, where he also maintains his clinical practice with East Suburban Obstetrical and Gynecological Associates. His role involves overseeing clinical and financial operations while collaborating with AHN’s executive leadership on quality healthcare provision, education advancement, research development, community health programs, employee engagement enhancement, and patient satisfaction improvement.

Nicole Stallings, HAP President and CEO, commended Dr. Rubino’s contributions: "As an accomplished physician and hospital leader, Dr. Rubino has been a passionate voice on HAP's board for driving our advocacy to support hospitals in advancing high-quality care," she stated. "I'm looking forward to continuing to work closely with him in his new role as chair-elect."

Further details about the Board of Directors are available on HAP’s website.
