Chris Boswell's performance in the 2024 season began with a notable achievement during the regular-season opener against the Falcons on September 8 in Atlanta. Boswell's six field goals were crucial for the Pittsburgh Steelers' 18-10 victory, as highlighted by head coach Mike Tomlin: "Man, we all know what he's capable of."

Boswell's first successful kick was from 57 yards, tying the game at 3-3. He continued to score from distances of 51 and 56 yards, becoming the first kicker in Steelers' history to make three field goals of over 50 yards in a single game. Tomlin expressed confidence in Boswell's abilities: "He wants the long ball," and emphasized his trust by saying, "I don't have any hesitation to send him out there."

The game saw Boswell equaling his previous record of six field goals in a match, a feat he had achieved before on December 18, 2016. This tied him again with Jeff Reed and Gary Anderson for most field goals scored in a single game for the franchise.

During this match against the Falcons, wide receiver Scotty Miller stepped in as holder due to punter Cameron Johnston's injury. Additionally, Boswell executed a punt for Johnston late in the fourth quarter.

Reflecting on his performance, Boswell stated: "It definitely feels good," but remained focused on future games: "Whatever I did this week has no relevance to next week." His consistency continued throughout the season with another perfect six-field-goal performance against the Ravens on November 17 at Acrisure Stadium.

By season's end, Boswell had accumulated significant achievements including scoring 158 points—the highest by an NFL kicker since Greg Zuerlein—and setting a franchise record with 41 field goals. His career success rate of 82.7 percent on attempts of over 50 yards became noteworthy since it was unmatched since the AFL-NFL merger.

Boswell earned recognition as an Associated Press First-Team All-Pro for his accomplishments during his decade-long tenure with the Steelers. Quarterback Justin Fields praised Boswell’s contribution: "Just having a weapon like him... makes our job way easier."
