The Pro Football Writers of America have announced their annual All-NFL and All-AFC teams, recognizing multiple players from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kicker Chris Boswell, defensive tackle Cameron Heyward, and linebacker T.J. Watt were named to both prestigious lists.
Chris Boswell has been a standout performer this season, also earning selections as Associated Press All-Pro, NFLPA Players' All-Pro, and participating in the Pro Bowl Games. He achieved an impressive 93.2% success rate on field goals by making 41 out of 44 attempts. Additionally, he was perfect on all 35 extra point attempts and led the league in points scored by a kicker with 158.
Boswell's achievements set new records for the Steelers franchise with his 41 successful field goals being the most since David Akers in 2011 and ranking second since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. His performance drew praise from Coach Mike Tomlin: "What can you say about Chris Boswell in 2024 that hadn't been written or said," Tomlin remarked.
Boswell received recognition as AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11 and was awarded AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September and October.
Cameron Heyward also earned Associated Press All-Pro honors alongside a Pro Bowl Games selection. Heyward completed one of his most consistent seasons starting all games while recording significant statistics including eight sacks and leading among defensive tackles with eleven passes defensed.
Teammate T.J. Watt commended Heyward’s dedication: "Cam's a heck of a player," said Watt. "No surprises out of all of us in this locker room because I've seen how much he's worked."
Heyward celebrated turning thirty-five last May but continues to perform at an elite level despite being one of the older players on the team.
T.J. Watt added to his accolades this year by being voted Steelers Most Valuable Player for a record fifth time along with selections to both AP All-Pro and Pro Bowl Games rosters. Watt finished strong across several categories such as strip sacks (tied first), forced fumbles (first), quarterback hits (sixth), fumble recoveries (tied seventh), sacks (eighth) among others during this season.
Coach Mike Tomlin praised Watt’s determination: "No question he is relentless," Tomlin stated emphasizing how driven Watt remains throughout everything he undertakes professionally.
Watt reached another milestone becoming only one among three players achieving over hundred career sacks before age thirty—a testament further supported when Hall-of-Fame coach Bill Cowher commented: "He is a defensive player-of-the-year candidate…a first-ballot Hall-of-Fame player."
