Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Cancer Institute will hold its monthly Saturday cancer screening clinic on February 8 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Registration for the event opens today, January 15, 2025, and is available to both AHN and non-AHN patients. Interested individuals must schedule an appointment by calling 412-359-6665. The clinic welcomes patients with or without insurance.

In 2024, the AGH screening event saw participation from 66 patients who underwent a total of 223 screenings. Out of these, 181 screenings showed normal results while 42 indicated abnormal findings. Patients with abnormal results are advised to pursue further testing.

"Routine cancer screenings are undeniably crucial for early detection and improved treatment outcomes," stated David Bartlett, MD, chair of the AHN Cancer Institute. "At AHN, we understand that navigating the healthcare system can be challenging, which is why we're committed to providing convenient, one-stop clinics."

The clinics offer up to seven different types of cancer screenings in one visit at a single location. These include screenings for breast cancer (ages 40-74), cervical cancer (ages 21-65), colorectal cancer (ages 45-75), head and neck cancers (ages 18+), lung cancer (ages 50-80 with a history of cigarette smoking), prostate cancer (ages 45-75), and skin cancer (ages 18+).

Future events are scheduled at Forbes Cancer Institute on March 8, Saint Vincent Cancer Institute in Erie on April 5, and West Penn Cancer Institute on May 17.

Since its inception in 2014, the AHN Cancer Institute's one-stop comprehensive screening program has expanded due to its success and regional demand for prevention and early detection services. For those unable to attend Saturday clinics, appointments for comprehensive screenings can be made at Jefferson Hospital and Forbes Hospital by calling 412-325-9015.
