T.J. Watt was recently named the Steelers' MVP by his teammates, but Chris Boswell's performance this season has also been noteworthy. Boswell has accumulated a league-leading 153 points in 16 games, surpassing his previous team record of 142 set in 2017. His current point total ranks as the 12th-highest in NFL history, following David Akers' record of 166 from 2011.

Boswell broke another personal and team record with 40 field goals made this season, second only to Akers' 44 in a single season. Reflecting on these achievements, Boswell commented, "I'm more aware of it because everyone else is talking about it... If we need four, cool. If we need zero and still win, I'm perfectly fine with that, too."

He also set a new team benchmark for field goals over 50 yards with twelve successful attempts and twice kicked six field goals in one game during victories against the Falcons and Ravens. Notably, he is the only kicker to have achieved six field goals in a game twice.

This season's success can be attributed partly to a new practice schedule developed with special teams coordinator Danny Smith. Boswell explained, "I wouldn't say saved my leg... It's just a new schedule that we talked about around the league with guys and what they do."

Despite missing three attempts this year—two from long distances and one blocked due to missed protection—Boswell remains optimistic about his role under head coach Mike Tomlin: "I love the trust... But it's on to the next one and we'll figure that out next week."

Boswell joined the Steelers in 2015 as Shaun Suisham's replacement after an injury sidelined Suisham. Since then, he has maintained an impressive career field goal percentage of nearly 88%, ranking fourth-best in NFL history.

Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith praised him as "a unique weapon." Boswell stands second in franchise history for total points scored at 1,122 behind Gary Anderson's tally of 1,343.
