The Pittsburgh Steelers have started their preparations for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts, with several players dealing with injuries. Linebacker Alex Highsmith did not practice due to a groin injury sustained in the win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Nick Herbig is expected to see more action in Highsmith's absence. Coach Mike Tomlin mentioned that DeMarvin Leal, who has been working at both defensive line and outside linebacker, could also be an option. "He's been working both spots anyway," said Tomlin. "Speaking of positional flexibility, Leal, throughout team development, has been playing outside linebacker and defensive line."

Herbig stepped in when Highsmith was injured against the Chargers and is expected to continue in that role this week. Tomlin praised Herbig's growth and development: "That's been really consistent since he's been here," said Tomlin. "He's hardworking and humble, and I really think that tees up performance for him."

Quarterback Justin Fields is preparing to start while Russell Wilson's status is evaluated throughout the week. "Still very much in the same place with Russ this week as we were last week," said Tomlin.

Tight end MyCole Pruitt may miss another game due to a knee injury. Running back Jaylen Warren and guard Isaac Seumalo are also question marks for this week's game. Warren was pulled from the Chargers game due to a knee injury and did not practice on Wednesday. Seumalo was limited in practice as he continues to recover from a pectoral injury.

The Steelers placed defensive back Cory Trice Jr. on the Reserve/Injured List on Tuesday and signed defensive back James Pierre from the practice squad to fill his spot on the 53-man roster. Additionally, tackle Calvin Anderson was signed after tackle Troy Fautanu was placed on the Reserve/Injured List.
