Steelers fans are known for their fervent support of their team, often showcasing their enthusiasm on social media. This Sunday, Sept. 1, they will have another opportunity to display their black and gold pride as part of a global tradition.
For years, Steelers fans worldwide have celebrated "World Photo Day" on the Sunday before the start of the season. Originating in Mexico, this event has now expanded to include 11 countries and 56 locations this year, including the United States, Mexico, Argentina, the U.K., Ireland, and Germany.
"World Photo Day has grown into an annual Steelers tradition," said Dan Rooney, Steelers Director of Business Development & Strategy. "Each year, it's exciting to see Steelers Nation put their Black & Gold on full display all around the world. We look forward to seeing it grow even more this year."
This event provides an opportunity for fans globally to don their black and gold attire ahead of the team's season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. Participation is straightforward: fans can gather in groups or individually at local landmarks or in personal spaces like fan caves. The essential action is to take a picture on Sunday, Sept. 1 and share it on social media using the hashtag #SteelersWorldWide.
Photos can be posted on platforms such as Facebook (Steelers Fans Foto Official), X (@FotoSteelers), or Instagram (@fotosteelersfans). The initiative was developed by Sergio Carrasco and Guillermo Vargas from Mexico.
