The Wolf Administration has made it a focus to honor Pennsylvania women including those who have served in the military, and on November 29 Gov. Tom Wolf announced that nominations are being taken for the seventh Female Veterans Day Ceremony in March.
The nominations are being taken by the Pennsylvania Commission for Women and the ceremony is part of Women’s History Month. Those eligible include Pennsylvania women who have served for at least four years in any branch of the U.S. military. Wolf said it is an honor to celebrate female veterans each year with the Commission for Women.
“It’s important for all of us to come together to recognize the sacrifices our female veterans make to serve our commonwealth and our nation and to thank our female veterans for their dedication to protecting their fellow Americans,” Wolf said.
Commission for Women Director Moriah Hathaway said she looks forward to meeting the nominees and celebrating their accomplishments as part of Women’s History Month.
“Every year in March, the Pennsylvania Commission for Women recognizes outstanding women who have served in every branch of the military,” Hathaway said. “It is a true honor to award these selfless women for their bravery and dedication to our nation.”
