Gov. Tom Wolf recently announced $10 million in funding to improve airports and support aviation expansion projects throughout the state.
According to a news release, the funding will be provided through the Aviation Transportation Assistance Program to support 12 projects that will make improvements at 10 airports across Pennsylvania.
“Aviation plays a vital role in keeping our state’s economy moving,” Wolf said, according to the release. “These investments will help Pennsylvania’s airports operate safely, expand to meet current demands and sustain growth well into the future.”
The new investments are going to expand aviation-related operational and economic opportunities statewide.
In Allegheny County, the Pittsburgh International Airport will receive $2.4 million for continued commercial air cargo facility development. Development includes aircraft and vehicular access and parking, environmental remediation and continued site preparation.
