Steelers football is deeply rooted in history and tradition, and this October 26, the team will pay homage to its past by donning newly designed 1933 Throwback Uniforms. The Pittsburgh Steelers will wear these uniforms during their game against the Green Bay Packers at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday Night Football.
The uniform honors not only the original 1933 team but also the City of Pittsburgh and its rich legacy. Steelers President Art Rooney II expressed excitement about unveiling the new throwback uniforms, emphasizing their connection to both the team’s origins and their hometown. He noted that debuting these uniforms against another historic franchise like the Green Bay Packers adds special significance.
The redesigned uniforms feature a gold jersey with black stripes and large white block letters trimmed in black. The City of Pittsburgh crest appears on the left shoulder, while large black block numbers are displayed on the back. Completing the look are beige pants and a helmet with a gold matte finish, gray facemask, and black stripe down the middle.
Linebacker Alex Highsmith shared his enthusiasm for wearing such unique jerseys, particularly praising the helmet’s design. Tight end Pat Freiermuth echoed similar sentiments about switching from traditional black helmets to something new and exciting.
As players prepare for this primetime matchup against the Packers, they acknowledge that representing both their organization’s history and celebrating Pittsburgh is an honor they do not take lightly. Highsmith emphasized wearing these jerseys with pride while showcasing them during Sunday Night Football will be an unforgettable experience for fans too.
“It’s an honor to be able to wear these uniforms,” said Highsmith, acknowledging how much it means given all those who have come before them within this storied franchise known across sports worldwide – beyond just football itself.”
Freiermuth added: “Being able to showcase our part within that historical context makes us proud; people still talk about previous memorable kits like ‘bumblebee’ ones from years past – now we’re adding another chapter.”
