LATROBE, Pa. – Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin had to navigate both competitive practice drills and unpredictable weather during a recent training session at Saint Vincent College. The team engaged in its first 7-Shots drill of the camp, where Aaron Rodgers initially struggled with a low snap but later connected successfully with DK Metcalf for a touchdown.
Mason Rudolph followed with a successful pass to Scotty Miller, while rookie Will Howard also contributed with a touchdown pass to JJ Galbreath. Ultimately, the offense secured a 4-3 victory after Tomlin called for a do-over of an errant snap.
The practice was cut short due to lightning in the area. “Unfortunately, we got cut short today,” said Tomlin. He emphasized the importance of adapting to sudden changes, particularly weather-related ones.
Rodgers showcased his skills in another session by completing challenging screen passes under pressure. This performance came after scrutiny over an interception earlier in the camp.
In roster news, veteran safety Chuck Clark joined the Steelers, replacing waived DT Domenique Davis. Clark has experience from six seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and recently played for the New York Jets. “I’m just highly familiar with his intangibles,” Tomlin commented on Clark’s addition.
Tomlin provided an injury update stating there was no new news and expressed hope for some players’ return soon.
