The NFL has announced that the Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Minnesota Vikings in a historic regular season game in Dublin, Ireland. This event marks the first time an NFL regular season game will be played in Dublin, taking place at Croke Park on Sunday, September 28. The kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time, which is 2:30 p.m. local time in Ireland. The game will be available for viewing on NFL Network and streamed internationally via NFL Game Pass on DAZN and NFL+.
Steelers President Art Rooney II expressed enthusiasm about the event, highlighting its significance due to his family’s Irish heritage and their long-standing connection with Ireland. “The opportunity for the Pittsburgh Steelers to play in Ireland is truly special,” he stated.
Coach Mike Tomlin also shared his excitement, noting it as an honor to represent American football internationally and acknowledging the late Dan Rooney’s passion for such an event. “We’re unbelievably excited about this opportunity to play in Dublin,” said Tomlin.
Croke Park, known for hosting major sporting events and concerts, was previously the venue for “The American Bowl” where the Steelers faced off against the Chicago Bears in 1997.
In recent years, the Steelers have expanded their presence in Ireland through various events under the NFL’s ‘Global Markets Program.’ They have partnered with Aer Lingus as their Official Airline of Steelers Ireland to facilitate travel for fans attending this fall’s game.
Tickets are set to go on sale this summer, with registration available at nfl.com/dublin. The full NFL schedule will be released on May 15 at 8 p.m.
