The Pittsburgh Steelers announced the acquisition of wide receiver Robert Woods, adding a seasoned player to their roster. Woods brings over 8,000 receiving yards in his career, having been a second-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2013. His professional journey includes tenures with the Rams, Titans, and most recently, the Texans, where he played the past two seasons.
During his years at USC, Woods established himself as a promising receiver, catching 253 passes for nearly 3,000 yards over three seasons. Between 2018 and 2020, Woods had his most productive period with the Rams, recording over 1,000 receiving yards twice and helping the team reach the Super Bowl in 2018.
However, his two years with the Texans saw a dip in performance, totaling 60 receptions for 629 yards and a single touchdown due to the rise of Nico Collins. Last season, Woods split time playing both inside and outside, securing 15 out of 20 targets in the middle of the field.
Joining the Steelers, Woods is expected to complement existing players such as DK Metcalf, George Pickens, Calvin Austin, Roman Wilson, Ben Skowronek, and Scotty Miller. His capability as a blocker in the running game is particularly valued by the team, aiming to enhance their explosiveness in 2025.
The signing of Woods does not impact the Steelers’ compensatory pick formula for 2026, as it occurred after the NFL Draft.
