The Pittsburgh Steelers have secured safety DeShon Elliott with a new three-year contract. Elliott, initially drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, has participated in 74 games throughout his career, starting in 64 of them.
Elliott’s career statistics include 391 tackles, with 271 being solo stops, alongside 23 passes defensed. He also has recorded three and a half sacks, four interceptions, five forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries.
In 2024, Elliott joined the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent on a two-year deal. During that season, he played in 15 games and started in 14. His performance included 108 tackles (73 solo), five tackles for loss, six passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries—tied for the most in the NFL—and one interception.
Before joining the Steelers, Elliott spent the 2023 season with the Miami Dolphins where he started in 15 games. He ended that year with 82 tackles and seven passes defensed along with an interception and a fumble recovery.
In 2022 while playing for the Detroit Lions, Elliott appeared in 14 games and started in 13. His season stats included 95 tackles (72 solo), three passes defensed as well as an interception, forced fumble, and fumble recovery.
Elliott’s tenure at Baltimore saw him participate in his first four seasons where he appeared in a total of 28 games starting in all but six. His standout year was in 2020 when he played all 16 games achieving a total of 80 tackles (51 solo), four passes defensed along with two and a half sacks plus two forced fumbles.
Elliott’s college football career at Texas included participation in 31 games starting at least once during his time there. He concluded his college years with impressive stats: totaling up to nine interceptions along with multiple other defensive contributions which earned him first-team All-American honors during his final season.
