Steelers sign defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day to two-year contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Mar. 17 that they have signed defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day to a two-year contract.

This signing adds an experienced player to the Steelers’ roster, as Joseph-Day has played in 105 games with 90 starts over eight seasons in the National Football League. He has accumulated 315 tackles, including 169 solo stops, along with 30 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks during his career.

Joseph-Day was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and spent four seasons with them before joining the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022. He later played for both the Chargers and San Francisco 49ers during the 2023 season, then spent two years with the Tennessee Titans. Last season, he appeared in all 17 games for the Titans, starting ten and recording 41 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, and a fumble recovery. In his first game for Tennessee against Chicago on Sept. 8, he started at defensive end and contributed three tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, and a pass defense.

Throughout his career, Joseph-Day has shown consistency and versatility across several teams. In his first season with the Chargers in 2022, he started sixteen games and posted a career-high of fifty-six tackles along with eight tackles for loss and an interception. His college football experience includes playing at Rutgers University where he made forty-nine consecutive starts.
