The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to play a historic game in Dublin, Ireland, in 2025. The NFL announced that the Steelers will host the Minnesota Vikings on September 28 at Croke Park, marking the first regular season NFL game to be played in Ireland. The match will start at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time and will be broadcast on NFL Network and streamed internationally via NFL Game Pass on DAZN.
Tight end Pat Freiermuth expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, highlighting the connection between the Steelers and Ireland through the Rooney family. “This is something really cool for the Steelers,” he said. The Rooney family’s roots trace back to Newry, County Down in Ireland, with Dan Rooney having served as U.S. Ambassador to Ireland from 2009-2012.
Cameron Heyward also emphasized the significance of playing in Ireland, stating it speaks to ties “bigger than sports.” He noted how warmly they were received during their visit and anticipated an exciting atmosphere for fans traveling from America.
The Steelers have been actively engaging with Irish fans since being awarded rights under the NFL’s ‘Global Markets Program’ in 2023. They have hosted various events such as youth football clinics and watch parties.
Linebacker Nick Herbig shared his excitement about traveling abroad for the first time, acknowledging football’s power to provide unique experiences.
Fans interested in attending can register for ticket information at nfl.com/dublin, with sales starting this summer. Aer Lingus has partnered with the Steelers as their Official Airline Partner, offering convenient travel options from North America and Europe to Dublin.
The complete NFL schedule is expected to be released on May 15 at 8 p.m.
