The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Georgia defensive back Daylen Everette with the 85th overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, according to an April 25 announcement.

This selection is significant as it brings a player from a successful college program into a team with a strong tradition. The Steelers are known for their achievements, including six Super Bowl championships and community engagement efforts, as reported by the official website.

Defensive coordinator Patrick Graham said, “Really excited about our pick tonight. From a good program down there in Georgia. Came up big in some of the biggest games for that program. He is used to playing in a lot of big games. He gets the ball. The physical attributes.” Graham added that he was impressed by Everette’s focus and seriousness about football after meeting him during Georgia’s pro day: “The seriousness he has about football. The focus he has as a young man. I was really impressed by that.” Graham also highlighted Everette’s grit and willingness to improve: “And you could just tell there’s some grit there about him and a willingness to get better. Really excited for him. Congratulations to his family and congratulations to him.” When asked how Everette will fit into the defense, Graham said, “We just want good football players…defensive back, a good football player, someone that can tackle, someone that has some speed and explosiveness…there’s a level of intelligence there that is intriguing and knowing the system he came from, that makes it even more intriguing…you’ve just got to play hard, earn the trust of the veterans and then we’ll see how it plays out in September.”

Everette played 55 games at Georgia with notable statistics including 150 tackles (107 solo), five tackles for loss, one sack, five interceptions, 24 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries across four seasons.

The Steelers have honored figures such as Terry Bradshaw and Joe Greene through their Hall of Honor for contributions made over decades according to their official website. Their history includes not only championship success but also efforts toward community engagement through historical celebrations at venues like Acrisure Stadium as outlined on their official website. Fans can visit artifacts related to this legacy at the Hall of Honor Museum located within Acrisure Stadium according to team information.

The organization’s affiliation with the National Football League continues its tradition as one of its member franchises based on information from their official site, while multiple Super Bowl wins further cement its reputation as per team records.
