Learn more about cornerback Donte Kent in this edition of Five Fast Facts.
The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Donte Kent in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He was picked out of Central Michigan with the 229th overall pick. During his college career, Kent played in 53 games for Central Michigan, starting 48 of them. He accumulated a total of 235 tackles, with 171 being solo stops. His record also includes 47 passes defensed, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, four and a half tackles for loss, and one and a half sacks.
Special teams play is an important part of Kent’s game. In the 2024 season alone, he returned 16 punts for a total of 217 yards. This included a long return of 68 yards and one touchdown. His achievements have earned him recognition as All-Mid-American Conference three times: first team in 2022 and second team in both 2023 and 2024.
Kent graduated from Harrisburg High School where he was selected to participate in the Big 33 game after his senior year. This all-star game features top players from Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Kent expressed his excitement about staying in Pennsylvania by saying: “It’s hard to explain. I am just happy. I am a PA baby, and I feel like PA babies stay in PA.”
