The Steelers have officially signed offensive lineman Max Scharping to a one-year contract, confirming his continued role with the team. Scharping initially joined the team in the 2024 season, during which he participated in two games.

Scharping, preparing for his seventh season in the NFL, has accumulated experience with 81 game appearances, starting 33 of those. His professional journey began with the Houston Texans, who selected him in the second round, 55th overall, during the 2019 NFL Draft. Over three seasons with the Texans, Scharping played in 48 games, securing 33 starting assignments at both left and right guard positions.

In 2022, Scharping was picked up off waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals. That year, he played in 14 games but did not start during the regular season. However, he stepped up in the postseason, starting all three playoff games at right guard after fellow player Alex Cappa suffered an injury. The following season, Scharping saw action in 17 games primarily on special teams.

Before turning professional, Scharping had a notable college football career at Northern Illinois University, where he started in every one of his 53 games, playing at both guard and tackle positions.
