On Saturday, the Pittsburgh Steelers reached a verbal agreement with Mike McCarthy for him to become the team’s next head coach.
McCarthy brings 18 years of NFL head coaching experience. He previously led the Green Bay Packers from 2006 to 2018 and the Dallas Cowboys from 2020 to 2024. During his tenure with the Packers, McCarthy compiled a record of 125 wins and led the team to victory in Super Bowl XLV. His overall coaching record stands at 174 wins, 112 losses, and two ties.
A native of Pittsburgh, McCarthy returns to his hometown after guiding the Cowboys through three seasons with at least 12 wins and three playoff appearances over five years. Before becoming a head coach, he worked as offensive coordinator for both the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers.
