The Pittsburgh Steelers have added veteran defensive back Eric Rowe to their practice squad. This marks Rowe’s return to the team, having initially joined the Steelers’ practice squad on November 20, 2023. During his previous stint, he was promoted for three consecutive games against the Bengals, Seahawks, and Ravens in which he recorded significant contributions including his first interception for the Steelers.

Rowe’s performance in those games included 29 tackles—22 of them solo—a forced fumble, and a tackle for loss. Notably, in the AFC Wild Card game against the Buffalo Bills, Rowe made eight tackles and disrupted a crucial third-down pass that led to a blocked field goal attempt by the Steelers.

Originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Rowe played 16 games in his rookie season with five starts. He registered 31 tackles, five passes defensed, and an interception that year. Following a trade to the New England Patriots in his second season, Rowe appeared in 21 games over three seasons with New England, recording 50 tackles and one interception.

In 2019, Rowe signed with the Miami Dolphins where he spent four seasons. His tenure with Miami saw him participate in 62 games with 38 starts, accumulating 300 tackles—including six for losses—three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), and two sacks.
