The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for their training camp at Saint Vincent College on July 23, with a focus on their specialists. The team features placekickers Chris Boswell and Ben Sauls, punters Cameron Johnston and Corliss Waitman, and long snappers Christian Kuntz and Tucker Addington.
Chris Boswell had an impressive season in 2024, achieving a notable record of 41 successful kicks, including 13 from beyond 50 yards. He holds the career lead in field goal percentage from this distance at 82.7 percent. Boswell ranks fourth on the NFL’s all-time field goal percentage list.
Ben Sauls joins the camp to provide support for Boswell. Sauls is a left-footed kicker, which presents a unique challenge for the team’s holders.
The Steelers have two capable punters in Cameron Johnston and Corliss Waitman. Johnston was signed last offseason but missed most of the year due to injury. Waitman stepped up with a solid performance, averaging 46.4 yards per kick.
Christian Kuntz has been the team’s long snapper since 2021 but will face competition from Tucker Addington during this year’s camp.
Last season, the Steelers’ special teams units were among the league’s best, leading with three blocked kicks and ranking sixth in punt return defense.
