The Pittsburgh Steelers announced their inactive list for Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns, with wide receiver George Pickens sidelined due to a hamstring injury. However, the defense will see the return of outside linebacker Alex Highsmith, who missed the last three games because of an ankle injury.
“Alex Highsmith is a playmaker,” said fellow outside linebacker T.J. Watt. “You think splash when you think of him. Big-time plays in big-time moments.”
Watt expressed relief at having all four linebackers healthy, including Jeremiah Moon, allowing players to take necessary breaks during games. “It allows us to take a breather,” he said. “So anytime I can get a breather and let (Nick) Herbig or Preston (Smith) go in there and get some good quality reps, it’s a benefit to all of us.”
Coach Mike Tomlin is optimistic about Highsmith’s return. “It’s pretty exciting, isn’t it?” said Tomlin. He emphasized the importance of depth at the linebacker position: “You can’t run out of rushmen.”
On the opposing side, Browns offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey acknowledged the challenge presented by Highsmith’s return. “Obviously, he’s one of the top rushers in this league,” Dorsey commented.
The Steelers’ full inactive list includes QB Kyle Allen (3rd QB), WR George Pickens, DB Cory Trice Jr., OG Max Scharping, and DE Dean Lowry.
For the Browns, QB Bailey Zappe (3rd QB), WR Cedric Tillman, RB D’Onta Foreman, CB Chigozie Anusiem, WR Jamari Thrash, DT Sam Kamara, and DE James Houston are inactive.
