Tight end Pat Freiermuth emphasized the need for determination as the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare to face the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night. Freiermuth repeatedly stated, “Whatever it takes,” highlighting the importance of focusing on the upcoming game after a recent loss to the Cleveland Browns.

“It’s obviously a big game Sunday night so we’ve got to do whatever it takes,” said Freiermuth. “We’ve got to do whatever it takes to beat the Ravens. So, we’ve got to take the stuff that we did last game and in years past.”

Freiermuth reflected on their performance against Cleveland, acknowledging areas for improvement. “Well, it wasn’t acceptable from myself and a lot of the unit,” he said. He stressed that returning to successful habits from previous games would be crucial.

The Steelers had won three consecutive games before losing to Cleveland. Freiermuth remains confident they can recover by executing well and following their game plan. “We’re all looking forward to the opportunity on Sunday night. It’s a big one, obviously, and we can’t feel sorry for ourselves.”

Linebacker Nick Herbig discussed preparations for facing Ravens running back Derrick Henry, who recently rushed for 216 yards and four touchdowns against Green Bay. The defense is also preparing for quarterbacks Lamar Jackson or Tyler Huntley, both known for their mobility.

“We’re playing a great team,” Herbig said. “Playing a great running back. He’s a Hall of Fame type of guy. He’s one of them ones.”

Herbig explained that stopping strong runners has been part of Pittsburgh’s identity: “Just playing team ball, regardless of who the running back is,” he said. “It’s Pittsburgh, we’re going to stop the run. That’s what we do.”

Rookie Derrick Harmon echoed this sentiment about moving past Sunday’s loss: “We’re just trying to go out there and play ball because this is our season on the line,” Harmon said.

The NFL announced that Pittsburgh will host Baltimore at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday, January 4 at 8:20 p.m., with coverage on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. This marks their second meeting this season; Pittsburgh won their Week 14 matchup 27-22 at M&T Bank Stadium.

The upcoming game carries significant postseason implications—if Pittsburgh wins, they will secure both the AFC North championship and a fourth seed in the conference playoffs.

“It’s for everything this week,” defensive tackle Cameron Heyward stated. “You don’t have to look around. You don’t have to wait for somebody else to play.” He added: “We control our destiny… I expect our guys to be locked in, ready for this opportunity.”

Linebacker Alex Highsmith was named as Pittsburgh’s nominee for the 2025 Walter Payton NFL Man of The Year Award due to his charitable work through his family foundation in Pittsburgh, Wilmington (N.C.), and Charlotte (N.C.). Highsmith expressed gratitude: “I am so humbled, honored, and grateful to be the Steelers’ nominee for this year’s Walter Payton Man of The Year… I believe that my purpose in life is to bring glory to God by serving others.” Fans can support his charity through Nationwide’s Charity Challenge until January 5.

Pittsburgh continues its engagement with fans through various initiatives celebrating its football history—including honoring players like Terry Bradshaw and Joe Greene in its Hall of Honor—as outlined on its official website. The franchise has also secured six Super Bowl championships over its history according to official records.

Acrisure Stadium serves as both home field and headquarters for the Steelers, featuring historical exhibits such as those found at their museum on site. The organization remains an active member franchise within the National Football League as noted online.
