Steelers Nation gathered enthusiastically on Sunday to support their team, not just in Washington but also in Monterrey, Mexico. The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted their annual “Siempre Steelers” Watch Party in Monterrey for the first time, having previously held the event in Mexico City in 2022 and 2023.
The Showcenter arena in downtown Monterrey was filled with over 2,000 fans waving Terrible Towels during an exciting afternoon of football. Scenes from the party were broadcasted on CBS and several NFL partner networks in Mexico.
Steelers legends Dermontti Dawson, Jeff Hartings, Carnell Lake, and Kordell Stewart attended the event to sign autographs and take photos with fans. Stewart expressed gratitude for the support received in Monterrey and throughout Mexico. “We are so grateful for the incredible amount of support we receive, not only here in Monterrey but anytime we visit Mexico,” said Stewart. “Seeing all these fans and all these Terrible Towels twirling was amazing.”
The international watch party offered a similar atmosphere to Acrisure Stadium’s home games. Fans enjoyed live music, entertainment, official merchandise sales, and game day content typically shown at Pittsburgh stadiums. Football-themed games were available for both kids and adults.
Dawson shared his amazement at the level of support from Mexican Steelers fans: “We had an amazing day with a huge number of fans here in Monterrey.” He noted that he has visited Mexico numerous times during his career and remains impressed by Steelers Nation’s enthusiasm there.
The Steelers’ Spanish language audio team participated in a simulcast broadcast of the game from the party location. Two-time Super Bowl-winning kicker Raul Allegre joined as a special guest.
As the game concluded with a close win for the Steelers, excitement reached its peak among towel-waving fans.
