The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted NFL Draft Watch Parties in Mexico City, Mexico, and Dublin, Ireland, as announced on April 28. Fans gathered at venues in both cities to follow the draft and celebrate the team’s selections.
These international gatherings reflect the Steelers’ wide fan base and ongoing community engagement. The events provided opportunities for fans outside Pittsburgh to participate in one of the team’s major annual moments.
In Mexico City, the party took place at Foro Indie Rocks during Day 1 of the NFL Draft. Former Steelers players Kendrell Bell and Carnell Lake attended to meet fans, sign autographs, pose for photos, and take a group selfie. “It was fantastic,” said Lake. “The people there are awesome. I don’t think you can find a more passionate group of Steelers fans anywhere in the world. Being at the watch party for the Draft, you would think you were in Pittsburgh. There were ‘Here We Go, Steelers’ chants in English and Spanish. We have such a great following.” He continued: “It’s a testament to the Steelers organization and what they have put together over the years. It’s a testament to the NFL that they have created such a great, entertaining product that the world has adopted.” The event featured live entertainment and large screens showing draft coverage.
Excitement peaked when offensive tackle Max Iheanachor was announced as Pittsburgh’s first-round pick. “The fans were all cheering when Max was announced,” said Lake. “People were going crazy, and it was just a great celebration.” The gathering included hosts Poncho Vera and Esteban MacÃas with special guest Arturo Carlos from Steelers Spanish radio.
In Dublin on Day 3 of the draft, Kennedy’s Pub hosted an event where former player Mike Wallace participated in a Q&A session with attendees while signing autographs and taking photos with fans. A panel discussion led by Tommy Martin from Virgin Media alongside Mark Hogan kept guests informed about draft developments; Tomás Quinn and Stephanie Zambra offered analysis on team selections.
