Steelers fans are preparing to take part in “World Photo Day,” an annual event that encourages supporters worldwide to display their team pride. The tradition, which started in Mexico, has expanded globally with participation from countries such as the United States, Ireland, and Germany.
“World Photo Day has grown into an annual Steelers tradition,” said Dan Rooney, Steelers Director of Business Development & Strategy. “Each year, it’s exciting to see Steelers Nation put their Black & Gold on full display all around the world. We look forward to seeing it grow even more this year.”
On Sunday, August 31, fans are invited to wear black and gold and share photos on social media using the hashtag #SteelersWorldWide. Participation can be individual or in groups at various locations. Fans can also post images on the Steelers Fans Foto Official Facebook page or other platforms.
The event gives fans a chance to show support for the team ahead of the season opener against the New York Jets. The initiative was created by fans in Mexico, where there is a large following and a strong relationship between local supporters and the organization.
Official accounts associated with the event include Facebook: Photo Official Steelers Fans; X: @FotoSteelers; and Instagram: @fotosteelersfans.
