Injuries have impacted the Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepare to face the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. Key players, including safety DeShon Elliott, quarterback Justin Fields, cornerback Donte Jackson, defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi, and receiver George Pickens will be absent from the lineup.
The absence of these players comes at a critical time as a victory would secure the AFC North title for the Steelers. Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith acknowledges that the team must adapt to these changes. “Probably changes their calls schematically, and that is your job,” said Smith. “Nobody cares. Nobody is feeling sorry for you on the other side.”
Smith emphasizes resilience and problem-solving in response to these challenges. “I think sometimes in this league you want your best players out there. When they’re not, what are you going to do about it?” he stated.
DeShon Elliott’s absence also affects the team’s defense, according to defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. “It’s changes us a little bit in terms of job description and who does what,” Austin noted while praising Elliott’s performance this season.
Austin stresses the importance of readiness among remaining team members: “It’s kind of what the NFL is all about,” he said. “You’re going to lose guys from time to time.”
