The Pittsburgh Steelers have extended General Manager Omar Khan’s contract for three more years, ensuring his tenure with the team until at least the 2028 season. This announcement was made by Steelers President Art Rooney II, who expressed satisfaction with Khan’s performance over the past three years.
“I am excited to announce we have signed Omar to a new three-year contract,” stated Rooney. “Omar and his team have done a great job over the past three years in constructing our roster through the NFL Draft, strategic trades, and free agency. We look forward to continuing that trend that will lead to even more success on the field.”
Khan has been part of the Steelers organization for 25 seasons and took on the role of General Manager in 2022. He expressed gratitude towards Rooney for his support and shared his aspirations for the team’s future.
“I would like to thank Art Rooney II for his support,” said Khan. “I believe we are building a championship roster and look forward to the 2025 season and beyond as our goals continue to be to bring another Super Bowl to the City of Pittsburgh and our great fans.”
Under Khan’s leadership, the team has focused on an aggressive strategy involving free agency, trades, and drafting new talent. This approach has strengthened their roster across all positions.
Looking ahead, Pittsburgh is set to host the 2026 NFL Draft. The Steelers have secured 12 selections through transactions managed by Khan.
Before becoming General Manager, Khan served as Vice President of Football and Business Operations. In this capacity, he collaborated with Art Rooney II, former General Manager Kevin Colbert, and Coach Mike Tomlin on managing football operations, particularly focusing on salary cap management and contract negotiations.
