The Pittsburgh Steelers have added Derrick Harmon to their roster, selecting him in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Harmon, a defensive tackle from the University of Oregon, was chosen with the 21st overall pick.
During his college career, Harmon appeared in 42 games and recorded impressive statistics including 116 tackles, with 51 being solo stops. He also achieved 18 tackles for a loss, eight and a half sacks, six passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
Harmon spent one season playing for the Oregon Ducks where he started all 14 games in 2024. His performance earned him second-team Associated Press All-America honors. Additionally, he was recognized as a second-team All-Big Ten selection by media outlets and third-team by coaches.
Before joining Oregon, Harmon began his college football journey at Michigan State. Over his time there, he played in 28 games and accumulated 71 tackles with seven resulting in losses and three and a half sacks.
Harmon’s early football years were spent at Loyola High School in Detroit, Michigan. During high school, he was named to The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press All-Detroit Team. He also received recognition as a two-time first-team All-State selection.
