The Pittsburgh Steelers continue their efforts to support the community through their Social Justice Fund Initiative. This year, they donated a total of $516,000, with players contributing $258,000 and the team matching that amount.

Steelers President Art Rooney II expressed gratitude towards the Social Justice Committee members for their leadership in supporting various causes. “Our players and the organization have come together to provide the community with over $500,000 to support our neighbors in need of food, education opportunities, and many other vital resources,” said Rooney.

Since 2018, the Steelers and their players have donated nearly $3 million combined. Defensive tackle Cameron Heyward emphasized the collective effort of the team: “It’s not one or two guys, it’s a group of men that understand the importance of our community.”

This year saw contributions from 37 players. Notably, Cameron Heyward donated $100,000 and quarterback Russell Wilson contributed $50,000. Other significant donations came from linebacker Elandon Roberts, tight end Pat Freiermuth, defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi, and punter Corliss Waitman.

Russell Wilson highlighted the organization’s commitment to community involvement: “I think giving is too… we all have a giving spirit.” He also mentioned the influence of Coach Mike Tomlin and past Steelers on setting this standard.

Contributions were made to 30 organizations focused on youth development, food access, criminal justice reform, equity education, housing solutions, and improving community-police relations. Receiver Calvin Austin II shared his personal connection to these efforts: “It means a lot to me… getting a little more in depth to know what goes on in the community.”

Since its inception in 2018, contributions from Steelers players and matching donations from Steelers Charities have benefited 82 charitable organizations throughout Pittsburgh and beyond.
