The Pittsburgh Steelers have claimed offensive lineman Lecitus Smith off waivers following his release by the New England Patriots. Over three seasons, Smith has participated in 18 games and started in three of them.

During the 2024 season, Smith joined the New England Patriots after initially being on the Green Bay Packers practice squad. That year, he played in eight games and made one start. He debuted for the Patriots as a tackle-eligible tight end during a victory against the New York Jets. Previously, in 2023, Smith was part of the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles practice squads.

Smith’s NFL journey began when he was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. In his rookie year, he played ten games and started two at right guard.

In college, Smith played for Virginia Tech, appearing in 45 games with 38 starts—37 at left guard and one at left tackle. His college career included being named a 2019 All-ACC Honorable Mention selection.
