The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced the signing of three players following their rookie minicamp. Running backs Max Hurleman and Trey Sermon, along with offensive tackle Garreth Warren, are the new additions to the team. Concurrently, the Steelers released running back Aaron Shampklin.
Max Hurleman has a background of 51 games in five college seasons, starting 23 of them. He accumulated 194 carries for 814 yards and one touchdown. His skills extend to punt returns, having returned 49 punts for a total of 353 yards, averaging 7.2 yards per return. Initially at Colgate University for four seasons, Hurleman transferred to Notre Dame in 2024, contributing mainly on special teams.
Trey Sermon brings his NFL experience to the Steelers with appearances in 42 games over four seasons, including five starts. He has achieved 134 carries for 505 yards and three touchdowns during this time. In his last two years with the Indianapolis Colts, Sermon appeared in 31 games with three starts, amassing 91 carries for 319 yards and two touchdowns. Prior to that, he spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022 and the San Francisco 49ers in 2021.
Garreth Warren comes from Lindenwood University where he played in 35 games across four seasons. In the year 2023, he was part of an offensive line that contributed to an average of 134.7 rushing yards per game, ranking fourth best in the Ohio Valley Conference.
