The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced a series of events leading up to the start of their 2025 regular season. The team will open the season on Sunday, September 7, with an away game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
Ryan Huzjak, Senior Vice President of Business Operations for the Steelers, commented on the upcoming activities: “The start of the Steelers regular season is always an exciting time for Steelers Nation. As fans ready for the return of football traditions and the Steelers gameday atmosphere, we’re thrilled to present a full week of activities designed to channel that energy and build anticipation for the season ahead.”
Among the events scheduled is the annual Kickoff and Rib Festival at Acrisure Stadium from August 28 through September 1. This event features food vendors, music, and other entertainment outside Acrisure Stadium on Art Rooney Avenue and West General Robinson.
On Monday, September 1, the 37th Annual Steelers Run Walk will take place. The race offers both in-person and virtual participation options and serves as a fundraiser for the Art Rooney Scholarship Fund and benefits the Chuck Noll Foundation for Brain Injury Research. All participants are entered into prize drawings that include tickets to the home opener against the Seattle Seahawks on September 14.
September 2 will feature a Social Media Day of Giveaways where fans can win prizes such as game tickets and autographed items by following Steelers social media channels. That same day, students at the University of Pittsburgh can attend a Student Rush Pop-Up event offering free coffee, giveaways, and appearances by mascot Steely McBeam.
A similar Student Rush Pop-Up is planned for Duquesne University on September 3. On September 4, Steely McBeam will visit one of Pittsburgh’s public schools to distribute black and gold giveaway items.
Additional fan engagement opportunities include Kickoff Pop-Up Bars at Omni William Penn Hotel from September 5 through game day on September 7. The bars will offer themed food and beverages for fans gathering downtown.
On Saturday, September 6, Steelers representatives will participate in activities at the Pittsburgh Irish Festival ahead of their upcoming game in Dublin against Minnesota later in September. That evening also includes a Road Warriors Rally at Wicked Wolf Tavern in Hoboken, New Jersey featuring Hall of Famer Alan Faneca.
These activities aim to involve local fans as well as those traveling or participating virtually in anticipation of the new NFL season.
