The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Apr. 17 that Hall of Famer John Stallworth, along with Joey Porter Sr. and Joey Porter Jr., will be among those announcing the team’s selections during the 2026 NFL Draft, which takes place in Pittsburgh from April 23 to April 25.

The announcement highlights the ongoing connection between Steelers history and its present-day team, as former players and notable figures are set to participate in one of football’s most significant annual events. The presence of these individuals at the Draft Theater and Main Stage aims to celebrate both legacy and continuity within the organization.

Stallworth is scheduled to announce the team’s second-round pick. Reflecting on his own draft experience, he said, “It’s special that I would be asked, and certainly what makes it special is when you look back on the history of the Steelers in the Draft, particularly in my era. We had some great drafts. I was a part of one considered to be really, really good.” He added about representing his era: “To be a part of this Draft and to represent the success over the years that the Steelers had bringing draft choices in… To represent them and know that my story is certainly a good example of what was going on at that time.” Stallworth also said about hosting duties for this year’s event: “This tells the story and gives emphasis to the story of what the Draft has meant to the City of Pittsburgh, certainly to the Pittsburgh Steelers… That base that was built during the 1970s that we know and love and is a vital part of history for this club.”

Joey Porter Sr. will join his son Joey Porter Jr., who played high school football locally at North Allegheny High School before being drafted by Pittsburgh himself last year, in announcing one third-round selection together. “It’s going to be amazing,” said Porter Sr., recalling previous family milestones with pride: “I’ve been part of some crazy, awesome things already in Pittsburgh with J.J. (Joey Jr.) being drafted by the Steelers too… It’s a tie into our whole journey.” He also shared memories from past drafts: “We have games and everything here, but to have an event like this… it’s special,” he said.

Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis will also attend this year’s draft festivities alongside other alumni recognized for their contributions throughout franchise history. The official website notes that figures such as Terry Bradshaw and Joe Greene are honored through inclusion in their Hall of Honor for their achievements.

The franchise has achieved six Super Bowl championships according to its official website, contributing further recognition through inductions into its Hall of Honor. Community engagement remains central via historical celebrations held by club leadership. Artifacts celebrating team milestones are displayed at Acrisure Stadium’s Hall of Honor Museum. The team remains an active member franchise within National Football League operations, according to official information.

Looking ahead, organizers expect these familiar faces will reinforce connections between generations while welcoming fans from across football communities as they gather for three days celebrating both new talent entering professional ranks—and those whose legacies continue shaping franchise tradition.
