The Pittsburgh Steelers have reached an agreement with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers on a one-year contract, pending a physical examination. Rodgers, who is set to enter his 21st NFL season, was initially drafted by the Green Bay Packers as the 24th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.
Rodgers’ career is marked by numerous accolades, including four Associated Press Most Valuable Player awards. This achievement places him alongside Peyton Manning as the only players to win the honor four or more times. Additionally, he has been named First-Team Associated Press All-Pro four times and Second-Team AP All-Pro once. He has made ten Pro Bowl appearances, tying for fifth-most by a quarterback.
A notable highlight of Rodgers’ career was being named MVP of Super Bowl XLV after leading his team to victory against the Steelers with three touchdown passes and 304 passing yards.
Throughout his two-decade-long career, Rodgers has played in 241 games, starting in 248 of them. His statistics include completing 5,369 out of 8,245 pass attempts for a total of 62,952 yards and achieving 503 touchdowns. These numbers place him within the Top 10 all-time in several major passing categories. He ranks fifth in passing touchdowns and seventh in passing yards in NFL history.
Rodgers holds several unique distinctions among quarterbacks; he is the only one with at least 55,000 passing yards and over 3,000 rushing yards. Since joining the league in 1994, he remains unmatched with over 500 passes of more than 25 yards and over 100 runs exceeding ten yards.
During his tenure with the Packers spanning over eighteen seasons, Rodgers participated in 230 games and started in all but seven of them. His performance included completing over five thousand passes for nearly sixty thousand yards and delivering close to five hundred touchdowns.
In recent years, Rodgers played for the New York Jets following a trade in 2023 but missed most of that initial season due to injury. During his time with the Jets across two seasons, he appeared and started in eighteen games.
