The Pittsburgh Steelers have added defensive back Doneiko Slaughter and offensive lineman Lorenzo Thompson to Reserve/Future contracts, bringing the total number of such signings by the team to 19.
Doneiko Slaughter joined the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent after the 2025 NFL Draft. He played his final college season at Arkansas, where he started all 13 games and recorded 80 tackles, including 44 solo stops, three tackles for a loss, seven passes defensed, one sack, and a forced fumble. Before transferring to Arkansas, Slaughter spent four seasons at Tennessee. Over five college seasons, he appeared in 56 games with 28 starts and totaled 167 tackles (110 solo), eight and a half tackles for a loss, four sacks, and 15 passes defensed.
Lorenzo Thompson was initially signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft. He spent time on the Browns’ practice squad in 2024 before being signed to a Reserve/Future contract after that season. At Rhode Island, Thompson played in 46 games and served as team captain in his final year. He ended his college career with a streak of 37 consecutive starts.
Reserve/Future contracts are commonly used by NFL teams to secure players’ rights ahead of offseason activities and training camp.
